Families Belong Together

America Is Not That Great

Trump signed an Executive Order ending family separation at the border but THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION.

The order does not end the "zero tolerance" policy.

It offers no solution for the thousands of children currently in ICE detention centers or any path to reuniting them with their families.

The only thing this changes is that moving forward families will be detained together. This means that children will still be detained and treated as criminals.

This is a diversion and we know that you won't be distracted. In the words of Dan Pfieffer "YOU DON'T THANK THE KIDNAPPER FOR RELEASING THE HOSTAGES"

America is not that great.

We know that this is a terrible understatement right now. The Trump administration's disgusting "zero-tolerance" policy is separating children from their families and is unspeakably horrible. This is a Human Rights violation and is doing irreparable harm to these children. We are heartbroken and deeply disappointed in our country. But there are many ways to help!

Especially if you are represented by a Republican. Call 202-224-3121. State your zip code. When connected, tell them “I live in ___. I support #SB3036, the ‘Keep Families Together Act’.” Repeat.

2: Use #ResistBot to text your members of Congress.

Text RESIST to 50409 and it will help you contact your elected officials. Repeat.

3: Donate to #ActBlue

ActBlue splits donations between 12 different groups giving the most bang for your donation buck. Money goes to groups including, Al Otro Lado, The Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights, We Belong Together, and Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)

4: Contact ICE

(Immigration and Customs Enforcement) by writing them here or call them at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE. Register complaints with the Department of Homeland Security.

5: Donate Essentials

While money is best, if you want to donate essential items like diapers, wipes, shampoo, and soap directly to immigrant children, Baby2Baby and Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) set up a baby registry at Target.

We'll be donating all funds donated to us to #ActBlue until Congress passes legislation ending this horrific policy.

We'll also be mobilizing locally in Los Angeles - stay tuned for more info on marches and protest coming up.
